I've been spending weeks indoors, due to major foot surgery. This is the time of year when most of my garden is in bloom, too, and I miss being outside with the flowers. Through the windows, I can see much of my garden, but it's not the same as being right there. So, I entrusted my good Canon Rebel t2i to my 11 year old daughter, who has a keen eye and an interest in photography, and sent her outdoors.
Our garden, as seen through the eyes of my child:
These purplish-blue hydrangeas are from our neighbor's garden. The bush is enormous!
The bush below is near my shed. About 10 years ago, another neighbor was digging this up and tossing it so they could plant a central air conditioning unit instead. I asked if we could have it. It had been a deep, rich blue that almost didn't look real. When it came to live in my yard, it became pink and purple due to the higher alkaline levels in my soil.
Yes, she found a heart shaped hydrangea blossom on one of the bushes! This was not 'Photoshopped' in any way!
I think she did a great job! Not only did she give me a tour of my garden through pictures, but she gave me a tour through her own eyes, and that is priceless.
Peace and blessings to you,

I must say your daughter is quite the photographer. Great photos. And, she's only eleven? I love that photo of the door latch...simple and striking. Your flowers are looking beautiful even if they aren't getting your attention this summer.
I wish I could grow zinnias but the humidity is so bad they always get mildew really bad. I guess I need some mildew resistant ones.
That heart shaped hydrangea is so pretty and sweet. Great eye!
Fabulous set of pictures! Love the one of the latch and the heart hydrangea is such a great shot!!
Oh, my! This was wonderful! Your daughter does, indeed, have a keen eye, and it's interesting to see some of the things that caught her eye. Very artistic! Your hydrangeas are different from mine, with tiny florets. I especially love the multicolored hydrangea. Would LOVE something like that. Mine range from light blue to dark blue because our soil is very acidic. I have one that's a deep reddish purple, and a white one. My pink is sort of a pinkish blue. Love that she spotted the heart-shaped hydrangea and photographed it for you. It must have been a real joy for you to see these photos. I hope you'll be able to get out there soon!
She definitely has the talent to become an amazing photographer. I love this garden tour. Getting an impression of how your garden looks like. ( LOVELY!!). Too bad you can't spend time outside. Is there still and chance for the wound to get infected?
Hope you are well; thinking of you.

Awwwww....priceless indeed! To share the love of photography is a great gift to pass to your daughter! And, yes I agree, I believe she has a very keen eye! Beautiful flowers and love the heart hydrangea! Take care, hugs!
You used the right word, Colleen! Priceless is what these are and how wonderful that you can have this blog "album" to post the photos and make comments, too! So much better than a photo album that sits on a shelf.
She really has inherited your artistic sense, there's no question! I get positively giddy over your hydrangea photos, but oddily enough, my favorite photo of hers? The gate hook. LOVE that!!
Hang in there with your imprisonment! This, too, shall pass!!
Oh my goodness, how did I miss these yesterday? Your daughter has a wonderful sense of composition and a flair for the dramatic - that latch picture is fantastic mixed among all the beautiful colors of your flowers, as is the picture of the lichen covered stone (wall?). Fantastic contrast among photos. And of course, this heart collector LOVES the heart-shaped hydrangea. Kudos to her - she's got a future in photography!
You've got a natural photographer Colleen! Gorgeous shots~
Oh my goodness. She did a great job.. I just loved them all..
I do hope you are healing fast my friend.
Hugs~
WOW! Those pics are absolutely gorgeous! What a beautiful garden, Col! I wish my hydrangea would blossom like that. We rescued it from our neighbor, too, but it was in bad shape, and I'm doing all I can to bring it back to health.
Love your pictures, especially the hydrangeas!!

How do you get so many blooms on your hydrangeas. This year especially, mine have had very few with blooms.
